Cod Ladders ("we", "us") operates this service. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what control you have.
1. What we collect
Account information
- Email address and a password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider. We never see or store your plain password.
Profile information
- Username.
- PlayStation Network (PSN) ID.
- X handle and/or Discord username (at least one is required so opponents can reach you).
- Region.
- Which console you play on and which games you own.
- Date of birth, if age verification is enabled.
Activity information
- Teams, rosters, ladders you join, matches posted, accepted and played, scores, ranking points and match history.
- Disputes, submitted evidence links, reports you make or receive, strikes and restrictions.
- Support tickets and their messages.
Communications
Technical information
- IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed and actions taken, collected through our analytics and error tracking provider.
2. Why we collect it
- To create and run your account and profile.
- To operate ladders, matchmaking, rankings and match history.
- To let opponents contact each other to arrange matches. This is why a PSN ID and at least one other handle are required.
- To resolve disputes and enforce the Platform Rules, including reviewing match chat and submitted evidence.
- To detect and prevent cheating, point farming, multiple accounts and ban evasion.
- To provide support.
- To understand how the product is used, fix errors and improve it.
- To meet legal obligations.
3. What other users can see
Be aware of this before you sign up:
- Public: your username, region, teams, match history and ladder rankings.
- Visible to any signed in user: your PSN ID, X handle and Discord username. This is deliberate, it is how opponents reach you to organise a match. Do not use a handle you are not comfortable sharing with other players.
- Visible to match participants and admins: match chat for that match.
- Visible to admins only: support tickets, reports, dispute notes, strikes and restrictions.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it with service providers who help us run the platform:
| Provider | Purpose | Where data is held |
|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage | Sydney, Australia |
| Vercel | Application hosting | Sydney, Australia |
| PostHog | Product analytics and error tracking | United States |
Overseas disclosure: our analytics and error tracking provider stores data in the United States, so some technical and usage information is disclosed overseas. By using the Service you consent to this disclosure. We take reasonable steps to ensure providers handle information appropriately.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand product usage. You can control cookies in your browser, though signing in will not work without essential cookies.
6. Retention and deletion
You can request deletion of your account through the app or by contacting us. When we process a deletion request:
- Your profile is anonymised and your contact handles (PSN, X, Discord) are removed.
- Your match and ladder history is anonymised rather than deleted, so results, rankings and opponents' records stay accurate.
- If your account was under a permanent, account wide ban at the time of deletion, we keep a scrambled, non-reversible record of your contact handles. We cannot read these values, but they let us detect that account trying to re register with the same identifiers, which protects the integrity of the competition. In every other case, including a temporary ban or a restriction limited to one ladder, your handles are released and can be used to sign up again.
We keep other information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.
7. Security
We use access controls, row level database security, encryption in transit, and hashed credentials. No system is perfectly secure, and the Service is in beta. Please use a strong, unique password and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
8. Your rights
You can:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- request deletion of your account (subject to section 6);
- complain if you think we have mishandled your information.
Contact support@codladders.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
9. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 13. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under that age without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified in the app. The "last updated" date above shows the current version.
